Refund policy

This Refund Policy explains how returns, exchanges, and refunds work for purchases made from 90theoriginal LLC("90 The Original," "we," "us," or "our") at 90theoriginal.com.

We want you to love what you order from us. If something isn't right, here's how to make it right.


Quick Summary

  • Apparel: 30-day return window. Free first size exchange on apparel — we'll cover the shipping both ways. For change-of-mind returns, the customer covers return shipping. No restocking fees, ever.
  • Books: All books are final sale, no returns or exchanges.
  • Damaged, defective, or wrong items: We make it right at no cost to you — just email us with a photo.
  • All returns and exchanges must be requested by email first at orders@90theoriginal.com. We'll send instructions and the correct shipping address. Items sent back without a request will not be accepted.

1. Return Window

You have 30 days from the date you receive your item to request a return on apparel.

If you live in the European Union, you have an additional 14-day cooling-off period — see Section 8.


2. Apparel Returns — Eligibility

To be eligible for an apparel return, your item must be:

  • Unworn, unwashed, and unused.
  • In its original condition, with all tags still attached.
  • In its original packaging, where reasonably possible.
  • Accompanied by proof of purchase (order number or order confirmation email).

We reserve the right to refuse returns on items that show signs of wear, washing, or damage caused after delivery.


3. Books — Final Sale

Books are final sale. We do not accept returns, exchanges, or refunds on book purchases.

This applies to all titles in our bookstore section, including the Book of the Month and Staff Pick selections. The only exception is if a book arrives damaged or defective on delivery — in that case, see Section 5.

We keep this policy because our books are sourced and shipped on a per-order basis, and we are not able to resell returned books.


4. How to Start a Return or Exchange

All returns and exchanges must start with an email.

  1. Email us at orders@90theoriginal.com within the return window. Include:
    • Your order number
    • The item you want to return or exchange
    • The reason (size exchange, change of mind, damaged, wrong item, etc.)
    • For damaged or wrong items: a photo
  2. Wait for our reply. We'll confirm whether the return is approved and send you the return shipping address and any further instructions. If we are paying for return shipping (see Section 5 and 6), we'll send you a prepaid label.
  3. Ship the item back following the instructions we send.

Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.


5. Damaged, Defective, or Wrong Items — On Us

If your order arrives damaged, defective, or we sent the wrong item, we cover everything. Email us at orders@90theoriginal.com with:

  • Your order number
  • A photo of the issue

We'll send a replacement or issue a refund — no hassle, no return shipping cost to you. We'd rather make it right quickly than make you jump through hoops.

This applies to apparel and books.

When we cover return shipping, we'll email you a prepaid label. When the customer covers it, we recommend using a tracked service — we can't refund items that don't arrive back to us.


7. Free First Size Exchange (Apparel)

Got the wrong size? We make it easy:

  • Your first size exchange on any apparel order is free. We'll cover return shipping and the shipping for the new size in both directions.
  • One free size exchange per order. After that, additional exchanges follow the standard return-and-rebuy process.
  • Item must meet the eligibility requirements in Section 2 (unworn, tags attached, original condition).

To start a size exchange, follow the steps in Section 4 and tell us what size you need instead.


8. European Union — 14-Day Cooling-Off Period

If your order is being shipped to a country in the European Union, you have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving the item, for any reason and without justification, under the EU Consumer Rights Directive.

To exercise this right:

  • Email us at orders@90theoriginal.com with a clear statement that you wish to cancel the order. Include your order number and the items being returned.
  • Return the items within 14 days of notifying us, in their original condition with tags attached.
  • Return shipping costs are the customer's responsibility unless the item is damaged, defective, or wrong (in which case Section 5 applies).
  • We will refund your payment, including original delivery costs (up to the cost of standard shipping), within 14 days of receiving the returned items, using the original payment method.

This 14-day right is in addition to — not instead of — your other rights under our Refund Policy.


9. International Returns (Outside the EU and U.S.)

International returns are handled case by case. Return shipping internationally is often expensive enough that a return doesn't make practical sense for either of us.

If you're outside the U.S. and need to return something, please email orders@90theoriginal.com before shipping anything. We'll work out the best solution together — which may include a partial refund without a return, a replacement, or instructions for a paid return.


10. Refund Processing

Once we receive and inspect your return:

  • We'll email you to let you know whether your refund has been approved.
  • If approved, the refund will be issued to your original payment method within 10 business days of approval.
  • Your bank or card issuer may take additional time to post the refund to your account — usually a few business days, sometimes up to a full billing cycle.

If more than 15 business days have passed since we approved your return and you haven't seen the refund, email us at orders@90theoriginal.com and we'll track it down.

All timing references are in U.S. Pacific Time.


11. Free Shipping Threshold and Returns

If your original order qualified for free U.S. shipping (the B-Side Bonus on orders $65+) and your return drops the kept items below the $65 threshold, we may deduct the original shipping cost we waived from your refund. We'll let you know clearly before processing if this applies.


12. Items We Don't Accept Returns On

The following are final sale and not eligible for return or refund (except in the case of damage or defect on arrival, see Section 5):

  • Books
  • Gift cards
  • Items returned outside the 30-day window
  • Items returned without prior approval (see Section 4)
  • Items that are worn, washed, damaged after delivery, or missing tags
  • Custom or personalized items (if and when offered)

13. Order Cancellations

You may cancel an order before it ships by emailing us at orders@90theoriginal.com as quickly as possible. Once an order has shipped, it must be handled as a return under this policy.


14. Lost or Undelivered Packages

If tracking shows your package was delivered but you haven't received it:

  1. Check with your local post office or carrier first — many "delivered but missing" packages are picked up within 1–2 days, often by a neighbor or held at a local facility.
  2. If it doesn't turn up, email us at orders@90theoriginal.com within 14 days of the marked delivery date and we'll work with the carrier to investigate.

15. Fraud and Abuse

We reserve the right to refuse returns, exchanges, or refunds where we identify a pattern of return abuse, fraudulent activity, or violations of this policy. This is rare and we'd rather take care of you than play this card — but it exists.


16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. Returns and exchanges are processed under the policy in effect at the time of your order.
